Methods of destroying bacterial spores
نویسندگان
چکیده
The spores of Bacillus spp. are found widely distributed in nature, which may cause contamination of the environment and eventually diseases to humans and animals. The formation of the bacterial spore is a sophisticated mechanism by which some bacteria remain viable inadequate when subjected to survival stress such as lack of nutrients. The spores are highly resistant to heat, radiation, various disinfectant and antiseptic agents that routinely destroy bacteria in vegetative form. The inactivation of bacterial endospores has been regarded as a challenge for human health, environmental quality and food safety.

Background and aims : Microorganisms are one of the most important sources of contamination in indoor air and occupational environments especially in hospitals. The aim of this study was to evaluate the adsorption characteristics of bone char to adsorb B. Subtilis in the air. Methods: In this study B.subtilis spores were used as a model of bacterial spores. Also bone char was used as an ads...
متن کاملInactivation of Bacillus anthracis Spores
After the intentional release of Bacillus anthracis through the U.S. Postal Service in the fall of 2001, many environments were contaminated with B. anthracis spores, and frequent inquiries were made regarding the science of destroying these spores. We conducted a survey of the literature that had potential application to the inactivation of B. anthracis spores. This article provides a tabular ...
متن کاملIsolation of Anthrax Spores from Soil in Endemic Regions of Isfahan, Iran
To isolate and detect anthrax spores from soil in different regions of Isfahan, Iran a total of 60 environmental specimens were collected during 2003. Bacterial endospores were extracted via flotation in distilled water and were cultured on blood agar and selective PLET media. Bacillus anthracis was identified using bacteriological and biological tests. Viable Bacillus anthracis spores were iso...
متن کاملDetection of Paenibacillus larvae larvae spores in honey and diseased larvae Samples by culture and PCR
American foulbrood (AFB) is the most serious brood disease of the honey bee. Traditional methods are reliable but rather slow simply because they are based on biochemical, morphological and physiological identification of cultivated isolates. The aim of this study is the detection of Paenibacillus larvae larvae spores in honey and diseased larvae samples by culture and PCR. Therefore 54 samp...
